About Us
Founded by Jay Haas and Champ Covington in 1988, Thornblade Club is now widely regarded as the premier golf and country club in South Carolina’s Upstate. Spanning more than 130 acres, amenities include a master-planned 18-hole golf course designed by Tom Fazio, nine tennis courts, six pickleball courts, a competition size swimming pool, casual and elegant restaurant dining, social events, meeting facilities, and full-service banquet and event facilities.
At Thornblade Club, our dedicated team is critical to the member experience, providing exclusive membership privileges and second-to-none service across all areas of our Club. Within the Greenville community, Thornblade is best known for its 15 years as host of the Korn Ferry Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am as well as the home to the SCJGA Blade Junior Golf Classic.

 | Private Tom Fazio Golf CourseFor the discriminating golfer, this master-planned 18-hole golf course, designed by well-known golf course architect Tom Fazio, is the centerpiece for a magnificent residential community. Two-time Champions Tour champion Jay Haas, founding member of Thornblade Club and Director of Golf, proudly makes his home in Thornblade. Other touring pros including 2009 US Open Champion Lucas Glover, 2010 Bob Hope Classic Champion Bill Haas, 2014 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Champion Ben Martin, and three-time Rex Hospital Open Champion Kyle Thompson, play out of Thornblade as well. Amenities include a Golf Pro Shop, professional instruction, driving range and practice facility, and handicap tracking as well as a range of events and programming for golfers of all ages. | |
 | Racquet Sports CENTERAt Thornblade Club our members enjoy an impressive tennis complex featuring 11 outdoor lighted courts, including seven (Har-Tru) clay and four hard courts. This facility is home to one of the most vibrant tennis programs in the area with activities and competitive programs for players of all ages and abilities. Amenities include the Tennis Pro Shop, professional teaching staff, inter-club tournaments, competitive programs, USTA tournaments, junior camps, and more. | |
 | AquaticsAll membership categories enjoy the refreshing waters of our saltwater, competition-size swimming pool which includes the Pool Café and a children’s wading pool, open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Thornblade’s swim facility is home to one of our most popular children’s activities: The Blades swim team, made up of more than 150 swimmers competing in over 80 events throughout the summer. | |

Dine with the family in Champ's Grille featuring an exhibition kitchen and wood-fired oven or take a seat among friends around The Pub’s horseshoe-shaped bar. Champ's Grille and The Pub are open Wednesday through Sunday and offer weekly features to our members including a rotating salad bar for lunch, Prime Rib Night, and Sunday Brunch. | |

Thornblade Club accommodates an active social calendar for member functions including Cooking Classes, Wine Dinners, Holiday Parties, Prime Rib Night, Sunday Brunch, Informational Seminars, and other special occasions. Our custom-built clubhouse offers a spectacular setting for a wedding, rehearsal dinner, corporate functions, business meetings, holiday parties, and more. The Rose Ballroom spanning nearly 5,000 square feet with golf course views and a wrap-around balcony is the perfect venue for grand occasions. Other more casual spaces located throughout the Clubhouse, such as the Tiffany Room and Club Room, are perfect for smaller meetings or intimate gatherings. | |
