Amid the tree-lined drives and natural beauty at Thornblade, lies an impressive Tennis complex with 15 lighted courts including seven Har-Tru, two hard surface and six newly constructed pickleball courts. Thornblade Club proudly serves one of the most active tennis programs in the Southeast. Men and ladies alike enjoy challenging clinics, open pickleball nights, competitive match play, USTA events, league play, and a variety of social events. The year-round Junior program has camps and clinics for every level from beginner to competitive player development. The Tennis Pro Shop offers a full selection of the latest racquets, equipment, and apparel, as well as racquet stringing and re-gripping services. Thornblade Club is proud to host the annual USTA Thornblade Adult Charity Tennis Classic which raises funds for a charity of choice each summer. In 2022, over 160 players competed in the event which raised more than $36,000 for the International Progressive Multiple Sclerosis Alliance on behalf of a Thornblade member faced with the disease. A Fun & Active Lifestyle Meet the Tennis Pros Director of Tennis, Rick King, is a South Carolina native and grew up with a passion for the game beginning at only four years old. After playing collegiate tennis at the University of Mount Olive, Rick became a teaching professional at tennis resorts and academies in Hilton Head and Isle of Palms, SC. Rick has served as the cornerstone of the Thornblade tennis program since 2009 and has served as Director of Tennis since 2013. Accompanying Rick is Thornblade's Assistant Tennis Professional, Graysen Elms. Our Professional Staff is enthusiastic about organizing exciting events, competitive matches and engaging charity events for all ages.
